DIY Acid Wash

I'm really excited to share this post with you, simply because IT WORKED. A couple months back I bought some jeans from Primark, washed them and they came out looking like someone had poured bleach all over them! As you can imagine I wasn't too happy, but it gave me the chance to try out Acid Washing - and I now love them! So I thought I would share with you guys how you can also Acid Wash your jeans too!

What You'll Need:
  1. A pair of Jeans/Shorts (whatever you are going to use!)
  2. Bleach
  3. Spray Bottle
  4. Water
As you can see my jeans are all patchy and look like I have already attempted, really badly, to acid wash them. But thats what you get for washing Primark jeans apparently.  I would recommend you doing this outside and on a hot day as it makes it a lot easier to see where the bleach has developed as it dries.

Step #1 - Mix the bleach and water together in the spray bottle. I found about 2 parts bleach 1 part water worked best for my light coloured jeans.
Step #2 - Lay your jeans out and start to spray and dribble the mixture over your jeans until they start to give you the desired effect. If you pull the trigger on the bottle slowly, you will find it dribbles out in splotches giving you the more speckled effect (that I was going for)!
Step #3 - Repeat on the back of your jeans. Then go back and concentrate the bleach more heavily on the pockets, flies, and seams!
Step #4 - Once you are happy with the result, either hand wash^^ or put in the washing machine ALONE, to rinse all the excess bleach out. I then also used fabric softener after I had rinsed them so they wouldn't go crunchy - no body wants that!
Step #5 - Hang out to dry and your are done!

As you can see it is so easy to do and I love the way they turned out; as it means I can actually wear my jeans out again! Have you tried acid washing before? I would love to know if anyone has any more tips!

REVIEW | Sudocrem Skin Care Cream*

Sudocrem Skin Care Cream* 30g // £1.99
One of my skincare secrets that I have sworn by for years is Sudocrem*! We are all familiar with the grey tub and white and red label from our childhood, but Sudocrem recently came out with a handy travelsize squeeze tube for anyone on the go. It is the perfect for you busy mums to sling in your handbag or for you jet setters as it is hand luggage complaint!

This little tube of goodness has always been floating around my house from when my sister and I were little. Right the way up until now, as we still use it on a daily basis. However not for the whole nappy rash use...

Blemishes/Acne
I think this is the easiest way to get rid of any imperfections or breakouts. I just do my skincare as normal, avoiding any areas with my moisteriser and then place a layer of this wondercrem  (see what I did there) on my blemish and leave it over night. After it has worked its magic it is almost gone or at least a LOT smaller by the morning! Even the beautiful Cheryl Cole as admitted to using Sudocrem to dry and draw out blemishes saying that "It really does work!"
I've also heard of people with oily/blemish prone skin making a 'sudocrem mask' and leaving it on to sink in to get rid of any bateria that will make them break out.

Eczema/Dry Skin
I have pretty normal skin. Its oily sometimes, dry others and one thing that really helps me when my skin is dry, is sudocrem! You can even apply it to cracked skin as it sooth the areas, you can apply it to minor injuries, due to the antiseptic properties!

Sunburn and Minor Burns
Okay, so we have all sat out in the sun a bit to long and living in England, aftersun is a thing mainly bought for holidays and not really a household must have. However, you can apply Sudocrem to your burn and it will cool and help repair the skin! Magic 'ey. Likewise, when you burn yourself with your straighteners or even on the oven you can whack a bit of this on and voila!

As you can see Sudocrem is a hugely versatile product and definitely a vital ingrediant for my skincare routine!  I would completely recommend picking up a little tube, a must have for anyone who doesn't own one! I mean if good enough for Cheryl, its good enough for us right?

Surviving Summer

There isn't much better than sitting back in the garden in your bikini and being utterly thrilled that the Sun has decided to show its face this year! But for the poor souls that have been cursed with Hay Fever, it can be a complete bitch.

If you didn't know, Hay Fever is a seasonal allergy to pollen. This can be tree pollen (early spring), grass pollen (end of spring/beginning of summer) or weed pollen (anytime from early spring to late autumn. I have a weed pollen allergy and is something that has got progressively worse in the past couple years. I'm talking red raw puffy eyes, dried out throat (no matter how hydrated I am), a wheezy cough, and constant itchy nose. It gets pretty bad to the point I didn't use to go outside in the Summer because it was just painful and way to much of a bother. But being older and wiser, I have finally found ways to relieve my inflamed sinuses so that I can go out and enjoy the sun! So I thought I'd share with you what I use to survive the Summer months.
1. Anti Histamine  2. Eye Drops  3. Nasal Spray  4. Big Sunglasses  5. Vaseline

In the summer these are my life savers whilst out and about. I take a once a day Anti-Histamine every morning, as well as putting in Eye Drops before starting my makeup. The nasal spray really helps sooth your nose/throat, its not the most pleasant thing but it works! BIG dark lensed sunglasses, they really do help. This makes it a lot harder for the pollen to enter your eyes by providing a barrier and if they are already itchy it helps you not put your hands to your eyes. Not only will vaseline stop your lips getting chapped but if you place a small amount around your nose it will catch the pollen before you inhale it!I always put all of this in my bag when I go out too, as you never know when its going to hit you.

Last Resorts;
  1. When all else fails with my eyes, I find putting a wet flannel in the freezer for a bit then lying down and placing it over my eyes. This helps relieve the itching and cools down the area.
  2. For an itchy throat I find that sucking a sweet or chewing gum really helps as it stimulates you to make saliva which rehydrates your throat.
  3. Sleep. When I have tried EVERYTHING I just go up stairs, close my windows, draw the curtains and go to sleep. This just lets your body recharge and repair itself, it really is beauty sleep.

10 Lessons I Learned From Mean Girls

...and as the whole blogosphere is raving on about it, I thought I may as well too. I loved this movie when I was younger still do and was it always a must to have at a sleepover, along with face masks, sweets, the works! But now lets see what Mean Girls actually taught us underneath all the slogan tank tops and white mini skirts!
#1 On Wednesdays we wear pink!
The most important rule of all, as pink pretty much personifies the 'Plastics'. This rule is perfect for spring right now with all the pink pastels making a come back! Or even just for a pop of colour on your lips with your favourite pink lipstick. Just maybe not as literally as the Plastics rocked the pink look, but it is nice to feel feminine at least one day a week!
#2 You can only wear jeans or sweatpants on Fridays
Ok, so we are all guilty of just lounging around the house in sweatpants all week on our days off and not doing anything. But I guess if you got up and glammed up everyday you'd be more inclinded to go out and do things? Mmm, imagine how good casual fridays would feel at the end of the week...
#3 You can only wear your hair in a ponytail once a week
We all know that wearing your locks up all the time can cause bad breakage to your hair and no one, especially the plastics, wants anything suddenly happening to there long hair! Just make sure you look after it and maybe experiment with cute braided up-do's instead of the same standard ponytail!
#4 Your friends have veto - sorta.
It is always important to get someone else's opinion in any aspects of life that you are unsure of - not just clothes wise! But what you may think looks great, your fashion forward bestie may be able to save you from a huge faux-pas.
#5 Thats why her hair is so big - its full of secrets
The secret to Gretchen Wieners voluminous hair, knowledge apparently! I guess that explains Hermione's bushy hair then? Better hit the books, or invest in some really good hairspray!
#6 Nobody owns a look.
Nobody can tell you what or what not to wear! Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Like wise no one can tell you can't wear something because they 'had it first'...
#7 Geek chic is always cute.
You can never go wrong with jeans and a big varsity hoodie or jacket. The perfect casual day outfit, but maybe not what I would have worn to the Spring Fling?
#8 Old ain't always vintage.
Personally I'm not the type of person that can truely apprieciate a vintage shop. I think they are cool and all, but I don't have time to sift around through peoples old clothes and maybe not even find anything or for nothing to fit. So just make sure your finding a gem rather than junk!
#9 Don't force a trend.
If it didn't work for Gretchen, it probably won't work for you. Soz.
#10 never squeeze into a size.
If the size of your clothes bothers you that much then just cut out the label! But squeezing into something far to small is going to make your body look worse, not better.

Don't follow these rules?

REVIEW | Mask of Magnaminty

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty - Face and Back Pack 125g // £5.25
Since trying out a sample of Lush's Love Lettuce Fresh Mask [see my review here], I wanted to see what the other fresh masks had to offer! There has been a lot of hype on YouTube, particularly in the US, about Lush's Mask of Magnaminty and naturally I had to see what it was all about!

This is the only Lush face mask that is not a fresh face mask. Which means you don't have to keep it in the fridge, which is a huge plus if you travel a lot. It comes in the standard Lush black pot packaging, with the date of when it was made on it - which is also a lot longer then the fresh masks too!
As you can see from the picture above it has a very thick, lumpy consistency but applies very smoothly and without worry to the face. When applied it also feels very cooling (due to the peppermint) and dries pretty quickly, 10-15mins. Once dried, you exfoliate with water to remove it, this leaves your face smooth and silky. The peppermint is just enough to feel cooling on the skin but not enough to over power your senses is something that I love about this product, so don't let that put you off!

It leaves your skin looking a lot clearer and moisturised - it literally drinks this stuff up! I use this one to two times a week and I have really noticed my skin look a lot brighter and glowing than before I started using it.
What are you favourite Lush face masks? Have you tried Mask of Magnaminty?

REVIEW | Pond Institute Eye Contour Cream*

Pond's Institute Eye Contour Cream* // £7.99

Since turning 20 a whole month ago now, my god I feel so old. I have decided to start getting serious about skin care, despite the fact that I am still mistaken for 16. In any case, I was sent this Eye Contour Cream by Pond's which isn't a brand I have heard of before, so I was eager to give it a go!

On first seeing packaging it immediately seems like something I want to put on my face. The simple packaging with clear text and instruction, with no false promises! Just simple and clean. It does come in a little tube which does mean it comes out quite quickly, but if your careful it works just fine. I also like the fact that its nothing fancy and lightweight, unlike other heavy potted eye creams.

'Pond's say that using this will result in 'skin with velvet-like texture' with Vitamins E; for hydration, Pro-Vitamin B5; to help restore and soften the eye contour skin, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter; protect, nourish and calm the skin.'

To apply this you simply gently massage in with your finger tips around the eye contour area. Now when I first saw this I was like err? what is the eye contour area stupid sophy. But I worked out it just meant around the bits where you would normally highlight the eye area. I find this really does work to leave the skin around my eyes feel nourished and moisturised. It definitely works to leave my bags looking less prominent after nights out or work, which is a huge bonus too! The skin itself feels so smooth and soft, so for £7.99 I would say this product is a winner.

As you can see it has a gel like texture for an 'eye cream' but this is very cooling and helps sooth the eye area. I find a little goes a long way with this product and I need a pea sized amount to apply a good amount to each side.

I will definitely continue to use this eye cream until the very last drop and then buy some more as I think this is the perfect light eye cream for someone with young skin to start using. It is a lovely product to put on morning and night and has made me look at eye creams in a new light.
What are your favourite eye creams? I would love to try out some more!

REVIEW | Sleek Blush in Rose Gold

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold 926// £4.49
I'm not one of those people that wears a lot of blusher. In fact until I started blogging I didn't own a single blushes that didn't come with a palette. I have always stayed away from blusher cautiously, terrified of ending up looking more drag queen then natural flushed. However, I pushed through my fear and started myself off with some MUA blushers (you can see here) and I have been lusting after Sleek's Rose Gold ever since. But for some reason I'd just bypass it every time. Not to worry though, my sister had heard me mention it 400 times and got it for me for Christmas - thanks Lauren!

This is my first time trying out a sleek powder product and just like the lipsticks WOW aren't they pigmented. For £4.49 it really is a steal, and you are getting great quality for your money. I am so happy that this is now in my makeup bag and I don't think it will be leaving for a very long time. Like the name suggests it is a peachy pink with fine gold shimmer running throughout it, which leaves you looking very healthy and awake!
applied straight onto natural skin.
What I love most is about this product is how versatile it is because of its gold reflects running through it. For example if I am tanned I like to use it as a highlight/blush combination as it makes you look really glowing and sunkissed. Whereas if I am particularly pale and use a light hand, it gives me the perfect 'I've just been outside in the cold, so my cheeks are naturally pink' look. I could not recommend this blusher enough and if you haven't already GO BUY IT.

The View from The Shard

Isn't it the loveliest day outside? Spring is finally on the way, and thank God because it has been a long ol' winter! Now as many of you may know, if you follow my blog/twitter/instagram, it was my birthday last Friday and today I want to tell you all about my present from Chris' mum. I received tickets for Chris and I to go up The Shard and this is something that both Chris and I have wanted to do for AGES

If you didn't know, The Shard is the highest building in Europe at the moment! With the 360 view of over 40 miles - which is incredible to see. It is also twice the height of any viewing platform in London and is a must see if you are making the trip on holiday or a day out!

I warn you this post is going to have an alarming amount of photos in - you have been warned.
a few snaps of Chris and I getting cocktails before at a Bar that looked upon The Shard
All these photos where taken on my iPhone as the camera kept picking up the reflection on the glass which was really annoying. But these pictures don't even do it justice on how amazing London looked!
Our tickets were booked for 7:30pm, which was amazing because it meant the whole of London would be dark and lit up for the night! It also meant that you could see for miles, I loved how you could even see how the thames flows through the city.
HMS Belfast - look how tiny it looks from 306m!

At The View from The Shard there are 3 floor open for viewing purposes 68, 69 and 72. The top floor was my favourite as it had an open roof that was touching the clouds and you could see the 'point' of the Shard. You also got a true sense of really how high up you were!
Aerial view of London below us, it all looks so tiny and irrelevant.
& a quick selfie in the lift down (that went 40mp/h and you had to get two lifts!).
I had such a blast going up The Shard and would definitely go again - maybe in the day time to see the difference! I would say it is a must see for anyone visiting London, as it is nice to see the city without all the hustle and bustle around you. It also means you can see everything in one go - perfect!
You can book tickets here if you would like to go yourself!
